Drama of Scripture Class – How to Understand the Old Testament
|February 28||6:30pm - 8:00pm||Bayside Folsom | Building 870, Room 103||Free|
An event every week that begins at 6:30 pm on Monday, repeating until April 4, 2022
Join us for this amazing 6 week class on the Old Testament. We’ll discover how it ties into the New Testament and our lives today!
“It has been said that Christopher Columbus didn’t know where he was going when he left, didn’t know where he was when he got there, and didn’t know where he had been when he got home.” Unfortunately, this is also true of many of our experiences with Scripture. We know parts of it. We read it in bits, in fits and starts. We have our favorite parts. But we have no idea how it fits together.
The Bible isn’t simply a book of quotations that we pick and choose to make us feel good. It tells a GRAND STORY OF ALL HISTORY. It’s a story about God’s people in God’s place under God’s rule, enjoying God’s blessing. And we get to be a part of it.
This 6 week study will start on Monday, January 24th. Children’s Ministry is available for ages 12 weeks-5th grade for $20/child.
This study is led by Phil Darke. Phil, his wife Becca, and their five children, live in Folsom, CA. He is the President of Providence World, a non-profit developing organizations around the world to help children and families flourish. He also founded and hosts three podcasts: How Soccer Explains Leadership, Think Orphan, and Coaching Character. As a certified Personality Insights DISC consultant and coach of coaches, he has a passion for developing leaders in sports, much of which came from playing, coaching, refereeing, watching, otherwise studying sports and leadership, and, as much as anything, learning from parenting five athletes at different levels from pre-school to university.
Phil received his J.D. from Vanderbilt University School of Law and his B.A. in Rhetoric and Communications from U.C. Davis. Phil worked as an attorney with different firms in Sacramento, CA, and Atlanta, GA from 2000-2008, and for one year as a clerk for a federal judge in Honolulu, HI. In 2014, Phil released his collaborative book project, In Pursuit of Orphan Excellence.
Above all, Phil is a child of God who connects, catalyzes, collaborates, coaches coaches, facilitates flourishing, and seeks to create a little bit of Shalom in every community he touches.
