We believe baptism is an important step in your faith journey, and it would be our honor to celebrate this special moment with you! Baptism is a beautiful visual and symbolic demonstration of a person’s union with Christ in the likeness of His death and resurrection. Baptism signifies that a person’s former way of life has been put to death and depicts a release from their slavery to sin.
We're so excited about your interest in publicly declaring your faith in Jesus through baptism! Baptism is like the "wedding ring" of Christianity, showing your commitment to follow the path God has for your life. We’re thrilled to celebrate with you as you take this next step in your walk with Jesus and go public for him!
About Baptism
Baptism is not just a demonstration or “checking a box” on the Christian journey; it’s a privilege. We have the opportunity to proclaim our trust in and love for Jesus through baptism in the same way Christians have been practicing it all over the world for over 2000 years! It’s our joy to be baptized! The desire to be baptized should be motivated by our hope to glorify God in faithful obedience. Any other motivation (to join a specific local church, to please a friend or family member, etc.) should not be the ultimate reason for wanting to be baptized.
We encourage someone to be baptized to obey the commands of Christ (Matthew 28:18-20) and to follow the example of Christ (Matthew 3:13-17). While baptism is an important step in one’s faith journey and by God’s grace we are more conformed to the image of Christ as we obey Him in the call to be baptized, one’s salvation is not dependent upon baptism. We are saved by grace alone, through faith alone.
While we do not baptize infants at Bayside, we do have a child dedication process for parents who want to publicly dedicate their children to the Lord.
Child Baptism is available to those children who are old enough to both understand and verbally acknowledge Jesus as their Lord and Savior. Before committing to baptism, we ask kids to attend our Kids Baptism Class with at least one parent. This class is a time to look at what Scripture says about baptism and answer any questions.
