We're so excited about your interest in publicly declaring your faith in Jesus through baptism! Baptism is like the "wedding ring" of Christianity, showing your commitment to follow the path God has for your life. We’re thrilled to celebrate with you as you take this next step in your walk with Jesus and go public for him!

About Baptism

We believe baptism is an important step in your faith journey, and it would be our honor to celebrate this special moment with you! Baptism is a beautiful visual and symbolic demonstration of a person’s union with Christ in the likeness of His death and resurrection.

It’s showing your commitment to follow the path God has for your life and is an outward expression of an inward change. In Baptism we identify with Jesus’ death, burial, and resurrection and publicly declare our commitment to follow Him. See Romans 6:4-5

Baptism is not just a demonstration or “checking a box” on the Christian journey; it’s a privilege. We have the opportunity to proclaim our trust in and love for Jesus through baptism in the same way Christians have been practicing it all over the world for over 2000 years! It’s our joy to be baptized!

When we are baptized we are following Jesus’ example & obeying His command.

“As soon as Jesus was baptized, he went up out of the water. At that moment heaven was opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting on him. And a voice from heaven said, ‘This is my Son, whom I love; with him, I am well pleased.’”

– Matthew 3:16–17

“Peter replied, ‘Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.’”

– Acts 2:38

The desire to be baptized should be motivated by our hope to glorify God in faithful obedience. Any other motivation (to join a specific local church, to please a friend or family member, etc.) should not be the ultimate reason for wanting to be baptized.

The significance of baptism is a personal decision to follow Jesus & declaration to the world that you are following him. If your baptism did not reflect this change of life, or your own personal decision to follow Him, then you might consider being baptized again.

We want anyone who understands what baptism symbolizes and wants to make that personal public declaration to be baptized.  If your child is wanting to be baptized and you feel they understand the significance of baptism, please register them for our next baptism AND Kids Baptism Class. Our Kids pastor will reach out to you and walk you through baptism. Typically the youngest age we baptize is 7 years old.

Child Baptism is available to those children who are old enough to both understand and verbally acknowledge Jesus as their Lord and Savior. While we do not baptize infants at Bayside, we do have a child dedication process for parents who want to publicly dedicate their children to the Lord.
